Resumo
Uma forma de definir um discípulo é “alguém que segue as palavras de outra pessoa”. Em uma época pluralista, há muitas palavras acenando para discípulos aspirantes tentando atraí-los para certos modos de vida, todos prometendo algum tipo de bem-estar. Essas formas de expressão são ingredientes das visões de mundo, programas ou mapas para nos orientarmos no mundo. As visões de mundo respondem a questões centrais sobre a existência humana, muitas vezes na forma de uma história. Este ensaio argumenta que o pluralismo contemporâneo é o resultado do abandono da Bíblia como nossa história de controle, uma perda tão grande quanto do que Charles Taylor chama de imaginário social. Se esse diagnóstico estiver correto, a melhor maneira para a igreja recuperar uma visão de mundo bíblica é focar na evangelização do imaginário social, um processo que começa com as igrejas locais vivendo o drama da redenção do qual a Bíblia é o roteiro sagrado. O discurso e a ação da igreja vivem através de palavras bíblicas que se fizeram carne.
