Resumen
Una manera de definir a un discípulo es “alguien que sigue las palabras de otro”. En una época pluralista, hay muchas palabras que llaman a los discípulos aspirantes, tratando de atraerlos a ciertos modos de vida, todos prometiendo algún tipo de bienestar. Estas formas de expresión son ingredientes de las cosmovisiones, programas o mapas que nos orientan en el mundo. Las cosmovisiones responden a preguntas centrales sobre la existencia humana, a menudo en forma de historia. Este ensayo sostiene que el pluralismo contemporáneo es el resultado del abandono de la Biblia como nuestra historia controladora, una pérdida tan grande como lo que Charles Taylor denomina el imaginario social. Si este diagnóstico es correcto, la mejor manera para que la iglesia recupere una cosmovisión bíblica es centrarse en la evangelización del imaginario social, un proceso que comienza con las iglesias locales viviendo el drama de la redención del cual la Biblia es el guion sagrado. El discurso y la acción de la iglesia viven a través de palabras bíblicas que se hicieron carne.
