Resumo
Este ensaio examina dois sentidos do que significa ser bíblico em uma academia pluralista. O primeiro é examinar a Bíblia como um documento da universidade, suscetível a muitos tipos de sondagem crítica. O restante do ensaio explora o segundo sentido, que é usar a Bíblia como a narrativa de controle autoritativo que articula como os cristãos veem Jesus Cristo como o fundamento, a gramática e o objetivo tanto da universidade quanto do próprio universo. Ele examina como a autoridade bíblica deve e não deve ser empregada na academia, observando as ciências naturais e humanas. Em seguida, extrai quatro implicações para a importância de se usar a Bíblia como o imaginário social da pesquisa acadêmica, com ênfase especial em como ser bíblico evita o pecado capital dos acadêmicos: o reducionismo.
