Este artigo aborda três pontos de Atos 19:1-7: a identidade religiosa dos personagens, a natureza do batismo que lhes foi administrado e a razão pela qual este ocorreu. Na primeira parte, ele apresenta resumidamente a teologia paulina acerca do batismo; em seguida trata do texto e sua relação com a perícope anterior (At 18:24-28), especialmente o significado da expressão “fervoroso de espírito” e suas implicações para o texto.

Abstract: This article deals with three points related to the text of the Acts 19:1-7: the religious identity of the characters, the nature of baptism was administered to them by Paul and why this occurred. In the first part, it summarizes the Pauline theology about baptism, afterwards the author comes to the text and its relation to the previous pericope (Acts 18:24-28), specially, the meaning of “fervent in spirit” and this implications for text.
