Keywords:

The basis of the prophetic preaching in Israel has being the subject of a hot debate among scholars of the Old Testament, and the Book of Hosea has not being excluded from such a debate. Could the concept of the covenant at Sinai be the basis of Hosea’s prophetic preaching, as lately suggested by some scholars? Should one look for other options? The objective of this research is to investigate this issue in the context of the theological debate on this prophetic book. It used an exclusively literary method, focusing on the use of terminology
and intertextual references. Therefore, by the analysis of words, phrases, and ideas present in this specific section of the Book of Hosea, this research intended to verify the relationship of this text to the concept of covenant, or if it should be related to another theme or theological context of the Old Testament.
