Abstract

Este ensaio enfoca a interpretação de Mateus 11:12, um conhecido dilema nos estudos mateanos. O verso, dependendo do jeito como os termos gregos biazō e biastēs são traduzidos, pode significar tanto “o Reino de Deus sofre violência” quanto “o Reino de Deus é tomado à força”. O artigo examina a passagem usando as lentes da crítica narrativa. Nos estudos bíblicos, a crítica narrativa surge como uma proposta literária de interpretação bíblica. Com uma visão centrada no texto, essa abordagem tem se provado ser significativa no estudo das narrativas bíblicas. O presente trabalho aplica o método de crítica narrativa proposto por Powell (1990) ao texto de Mateus 11:2-19, classificando elementos narrativos como cenários, personagens e eventos. O estudo também se utiliza de ferramentas exegéticas e linguísticas como proposto por Powell (1990), a fim de fornecer uma compreensão complementar de Mateus 11:12.
