Abstract

The year of 1888 is one of the prominent dates in the history of the seventh Day Adventist Church. This is the year of the well known General Conference at Minneapolis. One of the highlights of this meeting is Ellen G. White’s claim that God presented at the conference “the most precious message” through brothers Waggoner and Jones. This statement of Ellen G. White has aroused great debates in Adventist circles by leading historians and theologians on its historical and theological significance by explaining what would be this “most precious message”. On this article it will be analyzed what is “the most precious message” and its relevance for the SDA church today, by looking into the historical events and theological debates of the General Conference session of 1888 at Minneapolis.
