Abstract

Objective: This study examines the necessity of health promotion in higher education institutions, particularly in Adventist universities, exploring its transformative impact on students and staff. The research highlights the role of holistic well-being—physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual—as a fundamental component of academic life and personal development.

Method: A qualitative approach was adopted, including a review of literature, biblical principles, and institutional reports on health promotion. The study also analyzes real-world examples from Adventist universities implementing innovative health programs.

Results: Findings reveal a growing need for structured health promotion strategies in universities to address rising cases of depression, anxiety, and unhealthy lifestyles among students and faculty. Institutions that integrate health principles into their educational mission report positive outcomes in student well-being and academic performance.

Conclusion: The research underscores the importance of health as a holistic concept in higher education, emphasizing the biblical perspective of the human body as the temple of the Holy Spirit. Universities must actively engage in health promotion, implementing effective programs that foster well-being and align with their mission of comprehensive education.
