Abstract
the concept of leadership has been used with great frequency in organizations and is also present in schools. In this way, this article focuses on leadership in educational institutions, specifically related to the performance of the school management team (direction, coordination and guidance), aiming to understand the importance of developing leadership skills for the school management team. For this, the methodology applied in this article was based on a bibliographic research, of a basic nature, with a qualitative and descriptive approach. As a result, it was found that the theoretical basis highlights key points for effective leadership, and a management team willing to relate effectively with people is able to efficiently lead their team, thus achieving positive performance in the best way possible. organization to which it belongs, promoting student learning. Complementing the understanding of the term leadership, conceptions about its concept are also presented.
