Abstract

The present article is divided in three sections. The first part investigates the roots of the Theology of Prosperity, the influences that have determinate its emergence and expansion in Brazil, and the way the theologians of the prosperity have used the media, mainly TV networks, to expand their faith. The second part will address the issues of disease and poverty under the light of the Bible and of History. These two issues are the problems more emphasized and combated by the theologians of prosperity. The third part will explore some implications of the views sustained by such a preaching that ends up in clear and explicit cont radiction with the sacred text.
